Hello, can you tell me what the versatility, dressage, cow work, body work entail? Are they clinics? Or Compition? Is there dress code, what are the prices? Need to bring anything? Please let me know thank you.!

  • MaryAnn:

    Hello, Lisa–

Thankyou for commenting on our website!!!

The versatility, dressage, cow work, and body work are all “classes” or mini-clinics that we hold at Hunt Ranch Arena every weekend, as well as the Cow Sorting practices!! This spring we will be having competitions on our Trail Challenge Course and the Cow Sorting with a point system and prizes at the end!! We judge everything at our ranch on Horsemanship, not time.

The dress code at this time is simply proper riding attire.

As far as the cost–right now we are offering a SPECIAL rate for the winter months!!! The classes are $20.00 for 3 hours. We normally charge $25.00 per hour, and the classes are usually $50.00 for 3 hours, so the $20.00 cost is a great deal!!

What you need to bring would be any lunch, snack, or drink that you might need for the length of time you plan to be here. In the future, we plan on having a vendor on sight, and will keep you posted on that.

The Versatility Class is designed to help with all of the various moves a horse must execute when participating in one of these events:
    Stops
    Roll-backs
    Spins
    Reining patterns
    Cow work
    Roping

The Dressage Class involves teaching basic dressage like applying cues at the correct time to help the horse be more successful at learning how to move properly

The Cow Work is everything to do with working cows from the back of the horse. If your horse is uncomfortable around cattle, we can help them to feel better and even to start enjoying it. We hold Cow Sorting and Ranch Roping (branding-style) events and lessons and classes. This is a very fun horse sport that almost every horse and rider are able to do!! We will help you through the learning phase, and you can do this at any speed you choose!!

Body Work is a series of stretches to alleviate limitations of movement in the horse. We can “work” on your horse for you, or you can learn how to do it yourself at one of the classes!!

Thankyou–please feel free to contact us at any time–call 928-245-8111 or email cowgirlmaryann@gmail.com or of course, the website

  • Raejean:

My daughter and I felt we learn a lot with the mini clinic on spin and stops. This was first time we had been to the Hunt arena and met the clinicions. Who are very knowledgable. Thanks for a GREAT DAY !!!!!

  • Brenda & Ashley Riddle:

Hi! Big round of Applause to Pete and MaryAnn for the Trail Challenge Competition yesterday. It was awesome! Ashley and I had so much fun, and, though we actually don’t yet know how we placed, we FELT like we were winners, and that was really what this is all about! All the great riding leasons have deffiantly helped both of us with our horseman ship. Thanks so much for providing more “horsey activities” to the wonderful white mountains. Closer to home is always better!

    • MaryAnn:

Wow, Brenda—Thankyou so much!!!! We’re so glad you enjoyed it, and we’re thankful to you for coming to participate!!!!!
